Breton Preventive Maintenance – Lubrication System
Records show that even in times as long ago as ancient Egypt engineers left detailed instructions on the importance of proper lubrication for the maintenance of their machines and equipment. A lot has changed since then as far as the types of lubricants used – olive oil in ancient times – and the sophistication of the machinery involved. But one truth remains the same: a well maintained and lubricated machine is essential for better productivity, reliability, longevity, energy efficiency and environmental responsibility.

The following instructions are designed to help extend the longevity and reliability of your Breton machines and equipment and to ensure that they remain operating at peak performance throughout their lifetime.
AUTOMATIC VERSUS MANUAL LUBRICATION SYSTEM
All Breton machines come equipped with one of the following types of lubrication systems:

•   Automatic Lubrication System (ALS):
Often referred to as a centralized lubrication system, this system automatically delivers controlled amounts of lubricant to multiple locations on a machine while it is in operation.
•   Manual Lubrication System:
This system consists of designated areas on the machine where the machine’s operator(s) must manually lubricate components by using proper tools in specified locations.
Both systems are designed to protect components, such as bearings, linear guides, sliding parts, etc., where they come into contact with each other and are critical to the lifetime durability and reliability of your Breton equipment.
RECOMMENDED LUBRICANTS
Breton strongly recommends using MOBILUX EP004 (from Mobil) for lubrication of ALL Automatic and Manual Lubrication Systems found on our equipment. Mobilux EP004 is a low viscosity grease that has been proven not to clog the lines on your Breton equipment.
In the event that MOBILUX EP004 is not available in your area, Breton recommends the use of one of the following alternative lubricants for your Breton machinery:

•   RETINAX CS00 (from Shell)
•   MOLUB ALLOY MPG00 (from Castrol)
•   MARSON EPL00 (from Fina)
INSTRUCTIONS FOR FILLING THE GREASE TANK ON AUTOMATIC LUBRICATION SYSTEM (ALS)
In order to fill up the grease tank on a Breton machine with an Automatic Lubrication System, please follow these instructions:

1. Turn off the power of the machine.
2. Open the cabinet where the automatic lubrication system is located.
3. Remove the red cap indicated on the picture.
4. Pump in grease MOBILUX EP004 using a manual or a pneumatic grease pump.
For more information, please refer to Chapter 6 in your machine’s Owner’s Manual.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR FILLING THE GREASE TANK ON MANUAL LUBRICATION SYSTEM
If your Breton machine has a Manual Lubrication System, then please follow these instructions:

1. Locate fittings on the machine marked with a grease sign.
2. Using a manual or a pneumatic grease pump, apply MOBILUX EP004.
3. Repeat as indicated in your machine’s Owner’s Manual.
