ASI Study Tour
Breton USA’s National Sales Manager, Mr. Egon Hinss, was honored to be invited as a guest of US Stone Industries to attend the 2018 ASI Fall Study Tour on November 10th. The event took place in Athens, Georgia, conveniently located next to the “granite capital of the world” in Elberton, Georgia. It is also the home of the historic Georgia Marble Quarry in Tate.
The study tour included visits to the Blue Sky Quarry in Carlton, and Eagle Granite, a monument plant in the heart of Elberton. A stop was also made at the Elberton Granite Museum to learn how the stone industry has positively impacted this small Georgia town.
On day two, the group visited the Georgia Marble Quarry, a division of Polycor, and received tours of the quarry. The group also got to see the production facility as well as a presentation about Polycor. We also had the privilege to see a 1997 Breton polishing line still going strong.
A meeting of industry leaders is not complete without a roundtable discussion. It was very interesting and informative to have heard the current concerns and successes by the member group.
“This was a special event to attend because it was also the 60th anniversary of the Allied Stone Industries (ASI) and the celebration was held at the place of my first job, the historic Georgian building in downtown Athens,” says Hinss.

All in all, it was a pleasure for Breton USA to take a part of this wonderful networking event. Thank you to the ASI and US Stone Industries for having us and we look forward to taking part in Toronto next September.
